The Friends of Sam Rayburn is a not-for-profit corporation (incorporated in Texas) that supports the Sam Rayburn House Museum and the Sam Rayburn Library and Museum. These two historic sites are located in Bonham and Fannin County Texas, the place Mr. Sam called home from the time his parents moved to Fannin County in 1887 until his death in 1961. The Sam Rayburn Library and Museum is a division of the Center for American History of the University of Texas at Austin and the Sam Rayburn House Museum is operated by the Texas Historical Commission. These two institutions supply the major funding for the Library and the House. The Friends provides supplemental funds for various projects not funded by the parent institutions, as well as providing manpower and other support services when requested by these organizations. More information on the history of the Friends of Sam Rayburn can be obtained by clicking here, and information on projects that the Friends have conducted and/or conducting can be obtained here. We hope that you will look around our site to learn more about Mr. Sam and our organization. If you're inclined to do so, we would love to have you join the Friends. Just click here or on the "How To Join" button above. You'll be helping preserve the memory of one of the greatest (and most honest!) American politicians of the 20th century.
